#30 Black Cobra VI
Today’s 30 Character Challenge character is Black Cobra VI created by Vito Delsante.
Personality: Legacy Bearer
The previous Black Cobra was saddled with his history as a sidekick, but Renae Hornsby-Collis’s time as Black Cobra is marked by embracing her place as the latest bearer of the Black Cobra mantle, with a duty to continue that lineage beyond herself. She’s full of facts and reverence for the previous Black Cobras while always thinking about how to carry that legacy into the future.

Venom is back in the picture, since I think of Renae as kind of a renewer of the Black Cobra legacy. She manages to reconstruct Venom from her Uncle’s notes, using it to once again fight evil as the Black Cobra.
She’s also more trained than any of the other Black Cobras, treating her superhero identity as a lifelong job. She’s trained in a variety of martial arts solely to use them while in costume, and she has an encyclopedic knowledge of other heroes and villains.
Her father’s exposure to Venom somehow warped his DNA, slowly modifying key proteins in his body to resemble Venom. While he didn’t live long enough to see any effects, Renae has had exposure since before she was born, through her father, and now her body exhibits some of the characteristics of Venom allowing her to create some minor Venom effects with a touch.
The fact the Venom biologically changes those around it makes me think it might be alive, and a potential villain, but then I’d probably have to rename it. Someone beat me to naming a bad guy Venom.
